We will be holding the tryouts for the “A” team in each age category (Atom, Mosquito, Peewee, Bantam and Midget) next weekend. You can find the detailed schedule below.

Due to the current situation and the compressed timeline, the Board of Directors has modified certain aspects of the evaluation policy for this year only.

The main changes are as follows:

  • The tryouts will be held in two sessions over one weekend;

  • For player eligibility, we asked in a short survey on June 9th to confirm whether your child would take part in the tryouts. If you wish to change the answer you gave us, please send an email at info@baseballstlaurent.com by end of day Wednesday (if you are unsure what you had answered, just send an email with your final decision);

  • If you decide to participate in the tryouts, participation to both sessions is mandatory. If you feel you have a valid reason to miss any of the sessions, please send an email at info@baseballstlaurent.com by end of day Thursday. The Board will review each request and rule on its validity by Friday;

  • Evaluators will be Board members for Atom and Mosquito (no Board member has children in these categories), and independent evaluators for Peewee, Bantam and Midget;

  • Players will be identified by a unique number. Atom, Mosquito and Midget players will be given pinnies, and PeeWee and Bantam will be getting CBSL baseball jerseys. Each player will keep them until the end of evaluations, at which time we will get them back.

  • Evaluators will grade players on throwing, fielding, batting and pitching (where relevant);

  • The Board and evaluators will go over the results of the first sessions and may proceed with cuts after the first day. The list of players making the first cut and continuing on the Sunday will be posted on the CBSL website as early as possible Saturday night (an email will be sent when the list is available);

  • If one of the two sessions is rained out for a category, the “A” team will be based on the results of a single session; and

  • “A” team rosters will be announced on July 6th, and “B” team rosters shortly thereafter.

The schedule for tryouts on July 4th and July 5th is as follows:
Houde Park - 10:00 am to 11:30 am
Cousineau Park - 12:15 pm to 1:45 pm
Cousineau Park - 2:30 pm to 4:30 pm
St-Laurent Park - 10:00 am to 11:30 am
St-Laurent Park - 12:00 pm to 1:30 pm

As was the case this past weekend, we will need some parents on the field to help run drills while evaluators are grading the players, as well as a Mr./Mrs. Clean in each category. Please confirm your availability by email at 

As was the case for the first weekend, when children show up to the field, they will need to have:

  •  Their own water bottle.

  • Their own disinfectant (CBSL will have bottles on hand, however families need to get into the habit to have their own once the season begins).

  • Their own bat, helmet and glove.

  • No chewing gum and no sunflower seeds are allowed (players caught with either one will be asked to leave the park).

  • Submitted the consent form prepared by Baseball Quebec (players who have not submitted a consent form will be asked to leave the park).


Parents who wish to volunteer to be on the field will also need to have completed the consent form. If we do not receive the form, then you will not be able to participate in the sessions.

CBSL will not have any forms available to be completed at the parks.
